Names of the week

MKTO
MKTO

One of my favourite artists are in Australia, MKTO, the californian duo consisting of Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller, who met while filming the show Gigantic in 2010. Both of there songs Thank You and Classic reached the top 5 in Australia and both songs are in my iTunes top played. Classic with 110 plays and Thank you with 12 (not so impressive but considering I’ve had this laptop for a month and Thank you was released early this year). And since they have been in Australia this week it makes sense for there name to be our names of the week.

Malcolm is the younger of the two born in 1992 . His name is quite dated in Australia and peaked in the 60’s, and in the 90’s only 7 were born and has been off the charts since 2008.

Tony was born in 1991. His name is also quite dated and peaked in the 70’s by the 90’s it was at 139 with 48 born per year. In 2011 there were 14 Tony’s born.

  1. Oddly enough, as this is just before an election, these are the names of Liberal politicians Malcolm Turnbull and Tony Abbot!

The name Malcolm disappeared from the charts just as Malcolm Turnbull gained party leadership. I don’t think Tony Abbot can do much more damage to the name Tony by now, although Anthony is still Top 100.
